The Golowan festival week came to an amazing fun filled end under scorching summer skies. The sun definitely had its hat on over the weekend as contrary to the forecast for rain, the skies stayed clear and the sun beat down on the crowds who were out to enjoy the parades, music and stalls.
I only got to see the 3 o’clock parade as we had a busy morning at Keigwin, but the floats and costumes were absolutely brilliant. The Falmouth Marine band were awesome as always, firing their chicken out of the cannon and generally adding to the madness and mayhem of the day.
There was a variety of music throughout the town and some spontaneous singing of sea shanties in Chapel Street at one point.
The Motown Pirates did a good session on Saturday at the Dock Inn, drawing a good crowd of dancers and spectators.
Quay Fair Day on the Sunday was another glorious day,the sun beating down on heads still a little tender from Saturdays frivoilites, and more music in various pubs and in Penlee Park where young cornish musicians held court, some wonderful talent was on show.
A brilliant weekend we look forward to Golowan 2015.
