Saturday this weekend saw the annual Mounts Bay Pilot Gig Regatta. My sister was over with several other rowers from Scilly and they bought the Emma Louise gig from St Marys with them, so we took the opportunity to go to Marazion and support them all.

All the Scilly crews did really well, the ladies A crew came second in their race and the ladies B crew came fifth in theirs. Mounts Bay Gig Club had a Bar-B-Q going all through the day along side a food stall and bar, to keep crews and supporters fed and watered. After the racing there was a band playing in the gig club shed, the band was really good and got lots of people up and dancing. We had cycled over on our bikes and as we had no lights I had to drag Stuart away at 10pm.
On Sunday Penzance Rotary Club hosted a vintage car show on Penzance Prom. After a wet start to the day the skies cleared and it turned into another scorcher and crowds turned out to see the lovely old cars and talk to their owners. There was even a steam car ‘Whistling Billy’ who showed off her paces by running down to the end of the Prom and back.

A real mobsters car. Just the right weather for this little beauty.
A different era of car. Red trucks.
And finally for our granddaughter who loves a yellow car.
A fantastic show of cars on a beautiful day making full use of Penzance Promenade and all proceeds collected were for the RNLI and The Pengarth Centre in Penzance.
